Story behind the song
Willie is 6 yr old Paint Tennessee walker, he came to Buck Creek Valley rescue in 2012 after being severely beaten with 2X4's and left to die. He is a horse that has been traumatized by abuse from people and now has become a healthy, functional, loving horse. Robin and Richard Mills run Buck Creek Valley Rescue.
Lyrics
Riding Ol Willie Look into my eyes, I was created to be loved. I can feel and only want to be your friend. I carry you on my back, lifting you high to the sky. Though I can't speak the words, I honor your command. Riding ol Willie from the Falls of Ohio, From the rescue in Buck Creek to Great Falls Montana. Treat me with kindness, let me run free, And feel the wind blowing down on my face. I only want to live without any fear, To be able to trust again for the rest of my days. Riding ol Willie from the Falls of Ohio, From the rescue in Buck Creek to Great Falls Montana. You and I, we'll ride together, Through the highs and the lows I won't let you down. Thank you for saving me. Off into the sunset, with the moon bright above, We go the distance, nothing to hurt us now. I'll be content knowing that the danger is gone, But the others endure torture, why is it allowed? Riding ol Willie from the Falls of Ohio, From the rescue in Buck Creek to Great Falls Montana.
